Picnic in the Park
It was Canada Day yesterday, with the CN tower lit up in white and red to mark the occasion! To celebrate, it was a long weekend here in Toronto and lots of shops and cafes were closed yesterday and today. The weather has been hot but in a good way (I could totally see myself living somewhere with this weather all the time!) and we made the most of it by heading for a picnic today at Trinity Bellwoods Park to relax, read and people watch.
Seems we weren’t the only ones with the idea to picnic in the park, it was absolutely packed and had a really cool almost-festival-like vibe with people sprawled out everywhere they could. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that many people in a park before! There were a few people sunbathing (in swimwear!), lots of frisbee and catch action, and a group of playing croquet (very cool!). We found a shady spot under a tree to eat our delicious battered haddock with hand cut chips from Chippy’s across the road. You can’t get better real estate than that for a fish and chips joint!
