On our second day in Daylesford we headed to Peppers in Hepburn Springs (about a 10 minute drive away) for a relaxing spa and sauna session before another epic dinner at the Argus Dining Room. The Peppers resort reminded me of an American mansion. High ceilings, lots of dark timber and leather. It was really welcoming and I could spend days there living off their drinks and getting spa treatments, finished off by eating at the Argus restaurant and trying everything on their menu.
The chef sent through some complimentary starters. What a good start to the meal!
We opted for the 3 course degustation as part of our spa + dining package.
^^Crab with foie gras shavings.
^^Tartare to begin with puffed beef tendon.
^^Snapper, fried egg, soy butter, squid, bok choi. It is actually a fried egg mayonnaise, which I found out after I confusedly asked the waitress where my fried egg was haha!
^^Hampshire Down lamb loin, carrots, sheep’s milk, Arabic spice, kofta. The lamb is bred near the restaurant so everything is local.
^^Taters, hobbits! (Fried potatoes, crisp chicken skin.)
^^We ended on a tropical dessert which Kran loved but was too durian-powered for me. Coconut, tapioca, lychee, longans, durian.
What a cool little spot that is effortlessly luxurious and oozed relaxation. We definitely want to return to try more of the food there, what we had was insanely good.
